My desk space is limited, so I usually only keep a couple pens near my computer. The rest of my pen collection lives on a shelf on the other side of the room.
It’s a system that works well for me, but a few days ago I had an idea that works even better: A cute pen cup that doesn’t take up a lot of desk space. I’m excited to share this incredibly easy DIY with you today!
Did you know that MAMBI washi tape tubes are the perfect size for pens? Yes! Lightbulb moment!
I picked out a few of my favorite rolls of washi to wrap an empty tube. I started at the opening on the top and worked my way down, being really careful to line up the edges as perfectly as possible. When I got to the bottom, I wrapped the washi around the edge.
I had been planning to add a matching sticker over the washi tape where the MAMBI label was shadowing through the white tape. I decided I liked the look without a sticker, so I wrapped three of the layers a second time instead. Whether or not you need to do this step will depend on the washi tape you use (and how ambitious you’re feeling — no judgement if you just skip it!)
I sealed the pen cup with Mod Podge, so the ends of the washi tape shouldn’t pop up after it has been used for awhile.
That’s all! It’s perfect if you’re wanting to do something creative, but you’re limited on time.
